Facing two knee replacements, she got back independence, while keeping both of her own knees.
A knee and ankle return story — shared anonymously
When she first came to Dr. Paul, she could no longer manage the basic tasks of daily life. Both knees were failing, and she was facing replacement of both. A severe grade 3 ankle sprain had stopped improving, and she might have needed surgery to reconstruct the ligaments.
It started with an hour of diagnosis
Before any treatment, Dr. Paul spent more than an hour on a deep, complex evaluation: dynamic stress testing under ultrasound, correlated with her X-ray and MRI images and results, along with diagnostic anesthetic injections and diagnostic focused shockwave. The goal was to find what was actually causing her pain, and to set aside what showed up on the scans without causing symptoms. For complex cases like hers, he considers this step the key.
What Dr. Paul did
Her treatment had four parts:
- Bone marrow concentrate placed into the bone beneath the joint (intraosseous) and into the joint (intra-articular).
- Treatment of the full functional unit, the joint and the tissues that support it, with bone marrow concentrate and micronized lipoaspirate, a fine preparation of her own fat.
- Therapeutic treatment with the MiS laser.
- Focused shockwave and EMTT.
Where she is now
She avoided both knee replacements. Both her knees and her ankle responded well, she has her independence back, and today she is thriving. She has since referred many people to Dr. Paul.
