Focused Shockwave
Precise acoustic energy delivered into a painful tendon, bone, or trigger point — to break the pain cycle and prompt the tissue to repair.
Shockwave
Focused shockwave delivers precise acoustic energy to a painful tendon, bone, or trigger point to break the pain cycle and stimulate repair. Dr. Paul uses focused shockwave on the Storz Medical platform — the device most of the research was built on (EPAT) — as well as SoftWave.

On the horizon
EMTT (extracorporeal magnetotransduction therapy), another Storz technology, is coming to the practice — studied for bone edema, muscle pain and spasm, collagen synthesis, and reducing fibrosis.
Part of the whole plan
Energy-based treatments are chosen — like everything here — for the diagnosis, and often paired with a regenerative injection or a comprehensive protocol.
Common questions
Asked and answered
What is focused shockwave used for?
Focused shockwave delivers precise acoustic energy to a painful tendon, bone, or trigger point to break the pain cycle and stimulate repair. Dr. Paul uses the Storz Medical platform — the device most of the research was built on (EPAT) — as well as SoftWave.
Does shockwave treatment hurt?
Most people describe it as a strong tapping or pressure that eases as the session goes on. Comfort is planned for here: nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and advanced regional and specific peripheral nerve blocks are available, alongside breath work, meditation, and procedural music tuned to 528 Hz.
How many shockwave sessions will I need?
It depends on the tissue and how long the problem has been there. Shockwave is normally given as a short course rather than a single visit, and the plan is set at your evaluation once the diagnosis is clear.
Is shockwave used on its own, or with an injection?
Either. It is chosen — like everything here — for the diagnosis, and is often paired with a regenerative injection or a comprehensive protocol.
Is shockwave covered by insurance?
For orthopedic use this is generally considered elective and is usually not covered by insurance or Medicare. Cost is discussed openly at your evaluation.
