Told a knee replacement was her only option. A year later, hiking, walking and swimming without pain.
The world’s first intraosseous Regenlase treatment, with bone marrow concentrate
She had spent six weeks on crutches, and her knee pain was getting worse. Her orthopedic surgeons told her that a knee replacement, total or partial, was the only option left.
It started with an hour of diagnosis
Before any treatment, Dr. Paul spent more than an hour on a deep, complex evaluation: dynamic stress testing under ultrasound, correlated with her X-ray and MRI images and results, along with diagnostic anesthetic injections and diagnostic focused shockwave. The goal was to find what was actually causing her pain, and to set aside what showed up on the scans without causing symptoms. For complex cases like hers, he considers this step the key.
A world first
Dr. Paul treated her knee with bone marrow concentrate and a full functional-unit treatment, and performed the world’s first intraosseous Regenlase treatment, delivering laser energy directly into the bone beneath the joint. Her care also included focused shockwave and EMTT.
Almost a year later, in her words
“I went on a 5-day hiking trip in North Yorkshire last month. It was about 12 miles per day with lots of elevation changes up and down coastal trails. My knee did fine. I’m currently walking the Stanford Dish daily (5.5 miles). And I swim most days about 3/4 miles. I take ibuprofen a couple of times a week for foot pain. I have EDS.”
From her message to Dr. Paul
She avoided the knee replacement, and she has since referred many people to Dr. Paul.
